Mimi then set out to inform Roger that she would soon be done for the night and Roger didn't even bother to hide the ecstatic grin that spread on his face at the news. "Mimi, not only will that make me feel better. It'll be associated with the best piece of news I've heard all night...aside from you not being seriously injured and you'd rather be doing all of this in my room," he added quickly, chuckling at himself. Honestly, it was bizarre, how quickly you could go from feeling sorry for yourself and angry at the world to every bit of your concerns revolving around one person, and how it somehow made you feel every bit better. He supposed there was some truth in what humanitarians said about how caring for others had a sort of healing effect on a person.
Roger laughed as Mimi squirmed like a little kid being chased around the classroom by someone threatening to pull her pigtails before he stopped tickling her. "Okay, okay, I won't tickle you," he assured her, stealing a quick kiss once he stopped. He simply smirked at her remark regarding his assurance that, yes, the fact that she would rather be entertaining only him over that huge audience of paying customers was a wonderful relief. He wasn't entirely sure what exactly she said, since her lips were still kind of on his, but he was sure it was funny.
Even though she was sounding very dramatic, it was still nice to hear how valued he seemed to be to her. Roger laughed along with her (for she had a beautifully contagious laugh, to top off all of her wonderful qualities) before they shared another lovely kiss. He raised an eyebrow at her response to his plea for her to understand why he was so possessive and always wished that she could quit. However, he had to smile after a moment of feeling quite puzzled. "Actually, no, I didn't....I'm glad I do now."

Mimi laughed at his reply, gently unhooking her legs from around his waist and settling herself back on the stool. It wouldn't be too much longer before her last number. "Geez, Rog, don't get excited or anything," she replied sarcastically, smirking. She knew he hated the fact that she worked here, but it wasn't as if she could find a job anyplace else. No one would take her. But, they'd already been over that point tonight, so she dismissed the thought. "Haha, Nice save there. For a minute I thought I'd have to hurt you," was added with another quick laugh.
She was quite satsified when he stopped tickling her; she'd been afraid she was going to fall off the stool. Returning the kiss he gave her, she rolled her eyes behind closed lids as she heard the stage manager tell her she had about two minutes before she had to be on stage. "Alright, alright, I'm coming," she told him, reluctantly shifting her head away from Roger's to turn and look at the older man. He rolled his eyes in response and stalked off, muttering something about dealing with women.
"Sorry to cut this short, babe, but apparently I need to get moving," Mimi said to him, leaning in to give him another quick kiss. "Meet me back here when I'm done?" Sliding gently down from the stool, she winced a little as she landed, the simple motion enough to jar her ankle painfully. Oh yeah, this bitch was getting iced when she got back to the apartment. It was gonna hurt so bad tomorrow morning. Stupid poles, she thought irritatedly, grabbing Roger's hand as she headed back toward the stage area.

It had been a while since someone had made Roger laugh as much as Mimi did. They sort of had similar senses of humor, come to think of it. He was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to handle it if Mimi couldn't take a small amount of teasing, and luckily, he could take it just as well. He simply smirked back. "Nope, you won't. So I will take none of that Miss Marquez," he retorted. Honestly, the moment was, in a strange way, kind of perfect, what with them both smiling and kissing. So of course, the stage manager had to interrupt. And Roger had just been brushing Mimi's job out of his immediate thoughts. Damn.
He let out a sigh as Mimi explained that she was going to have to go. Thankfully, she gave him another kiss with just about made up for it. He even smiled a little when she seemed to want to make sure that he would be back here. As if there was anything he'd rather do. "Sure thing...I'll be as patient as I can be." He frowned a bit as she winced. "Okay...we're going to have to get a better look at that once we get to the apartment...I'd feel better if we did. He squeezed her hand a little as she lead him out. As reluctant as he felt, he eventually went back out to the audience after telling her goodbye. It wouldn't be long, at least.

Mimi couldn't help but chuckle a little as Roger sulked back into the crowd, shaking her head. She knew he'd get used to it soon, or at least learn to live with it. He had to, if he were gonna hang around for long. She'd already made it clear that boyfriends were discouraged in her line of work because of the jealousy issues. She really did care for him, a whole hell of a lot, and she didn't want what she did for a living to scare him off.
She was forced away from her thoughts when she was signalled to go on. Heading for the stage, she stumbled a little as she came out, but recovered quickly. Her stupid ankle seemed to be getting worse as time went on. Shit, she thought, going on with the routine. This is gonna be difficult. She carried on as best she could, trying not to be obvious in her limping or look to Roger too much. She didn't want to see the worry that she knew would be etched across his face.

Mimi was probably right to try and persuade him to get over this. He couldn't get all upset over her line of work, because she unfortunately had a good point. He exhaled quite loudly in futility upon realizing that. It wasn't fair...Mimi could do better if circumstances were better, he just knew it. Then he wouldn't have to worry...because this was about more than jealousy. He knew how crazy guys could get, being one himself. Some just couldn't take no for an answer. Really, that guy who was going on the stage was miraculously easy to get rid of and not everyone was going to be that easily persuaded. And...okay, yes, he was a little jealous, but really, he was human. He was a good boyfriend, but no one could call him an absolute angel, free from sin. Out of anyone, he was the furthest from that, and he wouldn't try to dance around it.
The sight of her stumbling a little before she got on stage put Roger on full alert. That was certainly not a good sign. He frowned a little and kept his eyes glued to her. Come on, let us make through this without any severe injuries, come on, come on... He wasn't a religious guy by any stretch of the imagination and prayer wasn't something he was that into, but honestly, he was pretty sure he'd be willing to start wearing crosses and going on his knees with folded hands if it had them get through this.

Come on, damnit, don't do this to me, Mimi thought angrily, trying not to grimace or glare at her ankle. The routine was almost done, she could make it. Another minute, minute and a half tops and she could hobble offstage, sit down, and send someone to grab a bag of ice before it looked like she'd shoved a watermelon into her ankle. Just a few more rolls around the stage, a pole or two, and she'd be done.
Unfortunately, fate, it seemed, had other plans for her. As she began to drop to the floor, her foot twisted beneath her and sent her topling over, a crack reverberating through the club. She bit down hard on her tongue to cut off the cry of pain, focusing instead on the stinging and taste of blood in her mouth. Ow. Ow. Holy shit, OW! she screamed in her head, vision going fuzzy as tears welled up in her eyes. The club ahd gone silent, music cutting off so all that could be heard were her pitiful sniffles and whimpers, and the girls onstage whispering to each other.

It seemed like things just couldn't go Mimi's way tonight for just seconds after his impromptu prayer session, Mimi fell down. Along with a nasty crack, you could hear the gasps all around them. Well then, drunken men do know trouble when they see it, Roger thought bitterly, feeling utterly tempted to go onto the stage to make sure she was okay, but he had a feeling that she wouldn't want that either. Shit, shit, shit, Roger thought, and a few other profanities begged to exit his mouth, but he was too shocked to say anything. Unable to stop himself anymore, he went closer to the stage, but didn't climb onto it at least.
"Mimi!" He called out, which was rather pointless really, but he didn't know what else to do. Honestly, he wasn't sure which person was sober enough to call for some kind of help. Well this was just peachy. His girlfriend was injured in the worst place possible. That's the last time I ever believe her when she says something is no big deal, he vowed.

A stream of profanities were muttered under her breath as she looked around for the stage manager. Damned useless bastard ... Where the hell is he when you need him? As she noticed him backstage, jaw dropped, she growled, screaming, "Don't just stand there staring at me like I'm a damned zoo exhibit, call the damn ambulance! I can't walk!" She wanted so badly to move her legs, to get them out from underneath her, but knew that any movement she made would only upset the break worse. The tears spilled over, the shooting pain becoming a sharp throb, hurting more than withdrawal.
She heard Roger's voice close to the stage and searched for him, eyes shooting frantically over every face in the crowd until she found him. She didn't say anything, just watched him, almost begging for help. God, this hurt so bad. And she'd be out of work for weeks. Shit ... How am I gonna pay for my AZT? was the first thing that crossed her mind, bring more tears to her eyes. God, why now? It was cold, and easier to get sick, and she didn't need to be fucking out of a job now!

Oh, no, no, no... Roger thought as he came closer and recognized the moisture around her pretty brown eyes as tears. It was like his heart was breaking right in his chest. "Meems, it's gonna be okay," he whispered as comfortingly as he could before shouting over his shoulder. "You heard her! Someone call the hospital!" Finally, he noticed someone in the audience pulling out a cell phone. Honestly, if it weren't for the simple fact that, oh, they were too broke to have one of those things, he would've done it in a heartbeat. Sure, he could probably go to a pay phone somewhere, but there was no way in hell he was going to leave Mimi when she needed him.

"No it's not," Mimi replied, sounding pitiful though her voice was hushed. "It's gonna be weeks before I can get back to work, and my AZT is about out. How am I gonna pay for it?" She decided then that she didn't really care how much it was going to hurt, she needed to get her legs out from under her. Biting her lip and lifting herself up on her arms, she carefully stretched her legs out in front of her, unable to keep from screaming a little in pain at the change in movement. "Damnit, it hurts!" she grunted, squeezing her eyes shut against the pain.
