Anna laughed to Roger's reply and she replied,"Yes,Roger, actually your sister was the first person I met here in New York. I'm a girl from Sante Fe,so that's a great thing to me!"Annaliese was now walking backwards, not knowing where she was going and the next thing she knew, she bumped into someone. She gave a surprise gasp and she replied,"Oh,I'm so sorry. I...."She then turned and her heart literally stopped as she came face to face with the most goregous blue eyes she had ever seen in her life. She bit her lip and replied,"I'm so sorry,I...I wasn't watching where I was going....how clumsy of me...." Annaliese's heartstrings pulled on the inside--he was so handsome but surely someone as handsome as this stranger was proably already taken.

Sometimes life just works perfectly on cue. It isn't something that could ever be properly explained, but there were just times when you thought of something and something related to it would happen. In this case for Adrian Moreau, he had just made the decision to try to talk with the lovely vision he had seen once he got the confidence to do so when someone bumped into him. He turned around, only slightly surprised by this and having full intention of apologizing, even if he was a little shaken from his thoughts due to the collision. That was when he realized that the fates had decided that he had waited long enough and had brought the girl in question to him.
"Oh, no, no, no...it's perfectly fine. You simply startled me, madamoiselle," he assured her, unable to suppress a smile that seemed to come naturally simply by seeing her. Getting a better look at her, he realized how regal she really seemed. "Or should I be sticking with 'Your Majesty'?" It had been quite a while since he had met an attractive young lady, let alone on his own and someone who was quite as breathtaking as her. Anyone who thought that his efforts to be charming upon first meetings weren't efforts at all, but natural gifts that never faltered, was sorely mistaken. Really, it took every ounce of effort for him to not lose his head either out of nerves or just amazement about how lovely the company was. And he was almost certain that this girl would be excellent company.

His voice was enchanting. He was not from New York. He sounded French and she had to admit that her heart pounded within her chest. She couldn't find herself to speak for several moments. Her heart was telling her to speak! She didn't want to look like a fool--a damn fool so to speak. Annaliese knew she had to speak and she replied,"No,no,you don't have to call me 'your majesty.' This is not who I really am. This is just a costume. A most regal one at that. I'm Annaliese...Annaliese Darelle and...and you are?"

Adrian raised an eyebrow upon realizing how nervous the woman seemed. He would have thought that someone as lovely as herself would have carried herself with quite a bit of confidence. Then again, who was he to judge by appearances? It was rarely a good idea to assume things about people based on what their face looked like, especially when the issue was confidence. Once she finally got up the courage to speak, he gave her a smile, one that he hoped would be reassuring as he responded. "Oh, I know it is...after all, this is a costume party." He found that her voice was one that he could easily get used to, that it had an almost musical quality to it.
"All the same..." He bent down slightly, feeling incredibly nervous as he did so, although he sincerely hoped that it didn't show in his expression. He took her hand and kissed it lightly. Adrian tried his hardest to keep breathing as he stood up straight and then smiled. "I'd say that it'd be more than appropriate to refer to you as such, wouldn't you?" So Annaliese was her name...it was lovely, suitable, even. "My name's Adrian Moreau...enchante," he answered, slipping into his first language.

Annalise knew she had to keep herself together--just because this guy was the most handsome one she had ever seen within her life, she could not let herself look like a grand fool,so when he kissed her hand, she curtised like the queen Anne she was costuming as and she reconized Adrian's costume and so she said in this sentence,"It's an honor to meet you Adrian or shall I call you Lord Brandon? Judging by your costume..."

And, like the queen that she was dressed as (although as far as Adrian was concerned, she probably could have looked like one either way), she curtsied in response to his gesture. Merci Dieu, he thought for a moment. He was worried that he would overstep a boundary by doing that, or make her even more nervous than she seemed before. A grin snapped on Adrian's face when she seemed to recognize his costume. He hadn't expected that...he had actually had it made based off of a portrait he had found. Really, you'd think he'd know better than to use his wealth for something like that, but as his mother said, it was best to have these sorts of things prepared. "And it'd be the right judgement. Very nice...you know your history."

"Naturally..."Anna replied, nodding her head as she replied,"I am a fan of the Tudor era, monseiur and well,I have reconized the portraits of many fiqures including Charles Brandon."Annaliese noticed that there was some music on for the party and many people were dancing. Dancing in Halloween costumes? Geez, how could they survive? Anna then smiled and asked him,"So,tell me,are you new around here? I haven't seen you before."

To most people, this conversation might not have seemed all that interesting, but Adrian couldn't help but hang onto what this girl was saying. Anything to get to know her was a gem, as far as he was concerned. Besides, the era they were speaking of was actually quite interesting, if you took the time to find out about it outside of a classroom. Textbooks made everything seem boring, but if you looked beyond them, any era of history could be deemed as interesting, because they all were probably packed with human emotion that their present day minds could never fully comprehend. "Excellent," Adrian responded, grinning broadly at her. He had a feeling he could probably have long conversations with this girl...or at least, he could enjoy listening to her for ages. He wasn't that big of a talker, to tell the good and honest truth.
When he heard music playing, he smiled even more. Now he felt in his element. He almost missed Anna's question, because he was trying to listen, but he hardly minded the interruption. "Well, yes, I am. Actually, I don't even live at this apartment, to tell the truth." He chuckled just a little. "I heard about this from a couple of my neighbors on Avenue A. I've recently moved into the city, so I thought I might arrive so I could meet some people. It appears that I was successful." Successful was a gross understatement, of course. He couldn't have been luckier, he was sure.

Avenue A...when she heard those words, her heart sank. He was rich---she guess that the people he heard from must have been Maureen and Joanne. She knew their names but not who they were. But she knew that they were friends with some people in her apartment building. Annaliese knew there was two things about Adrian. One,odds are he was already taken--but wait--if he was taken,he would have shown up with a date tonight. But something in her pictured her being the one who was walking into a party with him--but little did she know that the picture would not come in until later. Fact two was that he was rich and proably had no interest in a little someone like her. But a girl could hope especially since she could see herself talking to Adrian for hours on end and not seem to matter. Anna heard his reason as to why he was here and she blushed a little smiling as she replied,"We both have something in common. I came here for the same reason---it seems I have succedded too." Anna then smiled and noticed her was listening to the music some. "You a music lover too,I gather?"
